Question
Please advise on adding Vitamin E to Coffee Scrub. Also, please explain the usage of `Benzyl Alcohol (Cinnamon Derived)`.
Answer
Adding Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) to Coffee Scrub
To add Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) to your coffee scrub, consider the type of scrub base you are using.
- If your scrub base contains an oil phase: You can use the oil-soluble Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) (Product ID 65). Add it to the oil phase of your formulation at a recommended rate of 0.1-1%. For antioxidant benefits on the skin, a rate of 0.1-0.5% is often sufficient and helps avoid a sticky feeling. If using it primarily as an antioxidant for the oils in the formula, a lower rate like 0.01% can be used. Mix it thoroughly with the oil phase before combining with other ingredients and adding the coffee scrub powder.
- If your scrub base is primarily water-based: You might consider using the water-soluble Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) Water-Soluble (Product ID 7659). This type can be dissolved directly into the water phase of your formula at a usage rate of 0.1-3%.
In either case, add the Vitamin E to your scrub base (cream or gel) before incorporating the Coffee Scrub powder (Product ID 125223 or 125717). Avoid heating Vitamin E for more than 5 minutes if possible.
