Adding Zinc Oxide to Sunscreen Formula with Titanium Dioxide for Broad-Spectrum Protection
คำถาม
Hello,
Regarding the following example formula:
1. Water: 73%
2. Pro Polymer: 1%
3. Phenoxyethanol SA: 1%
4. Titanium Dioxide 15nm Liquid: 25%
If I want to add Zinc Oxide 200nm EasyDisperse™, how much should I add? Or should I reduce the amount of Titanium Dioxide 15nm Liquid from the formula to achieve complete sun protection?
Thank you.
คำตอบ
Adding Zinc Oxide for Enhanced Sun Protection
To achieve more complete sun protection, especially against long-wave UVA rays, it is recommended to include Zinc Oxide 200nm EasyDisperse™ in your formula alongside Titanium Dioxide 15nm Liquid. While Titanium Dioxide provides good protection against short-wave UVA and UVB, Zinc Oxide excels at blocking long-wave UVA.
For comprehensive broad-spectrum protection covering all UVA/UVB wavelengths, using both ingredients together is ideal.
To incorporate Zinc Oxide 200nm EasyDisperse™ into your existing formula, you should add the desired percentage of Zinc Oxide and reduce the percentage of Water accordingly to keep the total at 100%. The recommended usage rate for Zinc Oxide 200nm EasyDisperse™ is 5-25%. The exact amount you add will depend on the target SPF and PA values you wish to achieve for your final product.
