• Mask the scent with fragrance: You can add a suitable fragrance to your lotion formulation to help cover or reduce the perception of the Thyme Care™ scent. This is a common method when working with ingredients that have inherent odors.

• Switch to an alternative preservative: Several alternative preservatives are available that have little to no odor and offer broad-spectrum protection. Consider these options:

  • Mild Preserved Eco™: This preservative is noted for having no odor and not affecting the scent of the formula. It is effective in a pH range of 4-9.
  • NaturePreserve™ Ultra: A natural preservative option that works effectively in formulas with a pH between 3 and 6.
  • NaturePreserve™ LB2: Another natural origin option that is water-soluble and effective in a pH range of 2.0-6.5.
  • Thyme Kill™: This ingredient, an isomer of Thymol, has a much lighter scent compared to Thyme Care™. However, it is typically used at lower concentrations (0.05-0.1%) and often requires combining with other preservatives (like Mild Preserved Eco™ or Phenoxyethanol) for sufficient broad-spectrum protection. It works in a pH range of 2-10.
