Adjusting Anti-Aging Spray Formula to Reduce Stickiness
Question
I have created a facial spray formula for lifting and wrinkle reduction. The formula sprays well and provides the desired tightening effect, but it feels sticky and slightly bitter.
The formula contains ingredients like Lift-Now, Pep®-Coll, and DMAE for tightening, and also includes high percentages of Repair Activator (Bifida Ferment Lysate) at 10% and Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (Pitera) at 20%.
How can I reduce the stickiness of this spray formula while maintaining its lifting and wrinkle reduction effectiveness?

Hello,
Thank you for trying the formula and providing feedback. It's good to hear that it sprays well and provides the desired tightening effect, even though it feels sticky and slightly bitter.
Based on your feedback and the staff's previous comments, the stickiness likely comes from the high total concentration of active ingredients, particularly those used at higher percentages. To reduce the stickiness while aiming to maintain the tightening effect, we recommend reducing the percentage of ingredients that contribute to the overall viscosity and are not the primary tightening agents.
Specifically, you could try reducing the concentration of:
- Repair Activator (Bifida Ferment Lysate) (currently 10%)
- Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (Pitera) (currently 20%)
These ingredients are present in significant amounts and are known to contribute to the texture and potential stickiness of a formulation. Reducing them should help decrease the tacky feel without directly impacting the main tightening ingredients like Pep®-Coll, DMAE, and Lift-Now™.
You can try reducing them gradually, for example, reducing Repair Activator to 5-8% and Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate to 10-15% initially, and test the texture. You may need to adjust the water percentage accordingly to keep the total at 100%.
Regarding the bitter taste, this is less common for a facial spray unless it's accidentally ingested. It might be related to one of the extracts or fermented ingredients. If it's a significant issue, further investigation might be needed, but focusing on the texture first seems appropriate.
Please try adjusting the formula by reducing Repair Activator and Pitera and see if the texture improves while the tightening effect is maintained.
Thank you.
