Adjusting Cream/Lotion Texture for Less Stickiness and Faster Drying
Question
I am working on a cream/lotion formula and find the texture too sticky and slow to dry. The staff suggested modifying Formula 1 by reducing Light Cream Maker from 3% to 1% and incorporating ingredients from Formula 3, including Reservoir-Tech. Will these modifications help make the formula less sticky and faster drying? How will the texture compare to my previous formulations?
Answer
Subject: Re: Please review the formula
Hello,
Regarding your question about the stickiness and drying speed of the formula:
The staff's suggestion to reduce the percentage of Light Cream Maker in Formula 1 from 3% to 1% is intended to create a lighter texture. This reduction should help make the resulting cream less heavy and potentially less sticky compared to using 3%.
The final texture and how quickly it dries will depend on the exact proportions of all ingredients in the combined formula recommended by the staff (which is based on Formula 1 with additions from Formula 3 and the suggested Reservoir-Tech).
Achieving a very fast-drying, completely non-sticky feel often requires specific formulation adjustments or ingredients (such as certain polymers or silicones) that are not included in the current proposed formulas.
We recommend trying the staff's suggested combined formula first to evaluate its texture and see if it meets your preference. As the staff mentioned, texture preference can be subjective, which is why they asked about your previous formulation experiences.
