Formulation Adjustments for Jar Packaging

To achieve a thicker consistency suitable for jar packaging and add color and fragrance to your formulations, here are recommendations for each of your recipes:

General Guidelines for Thickening

• For Gel Formulations (using Carbomer): Your current Carbomer concentration of 1.5% should provide a good gel. If you need it thicker, you can increase the Carbomer up to 3%. Ensure proper neutralization with an alkali like Triethanolamine or Sodium Hydroxide solution is crucial for gel formation.
• For Cream Formulations (using Easy Cream Maker): Your current Easy Cream Maker concentration of 1% might be too low for a thick cream, especially with ingredients that can interfere with emulsification. You can increase Easy Cream Maker up to 5% to achieve a thicker consistency. Note that ingredients containing electrolytes (like some extracts or active ingredients) can reduce viscosity, potentially requiring a higher percentage of Easy Cream Maker.

Adding Color (Light Blue Mica)

To add a light blue color, you can use Light Blue Mica.

• Recommended Usage Rate: Start with a low percentage, around 0.1% to 0.5%, and gradually add more until you achieve your desired light blue shade. Mica is a pigment powder, so a little goes a long way for a light tint.
• How to Add:
  • For Gel Formulations: Disperse the Light Blue Mica in a small amount of glycerin or a portion of the water from your formula before adding it to the main gel batch. Add it after the gel has formed.
  • For Cream Formulations: Disperse the Light Blue Mica in your oil phase (if you have one) or a small amount of liquid from your water phase before adding it to the main cream batch. Add it after the emulsion has formed.
  • Mix thoroughly but gently to ensure even color distribution without introducing too much air.

Adding Fragrance (Floral Scent)

For a floral scent, I recommend using Floral Background.

• Recommended Usage Rate: Add Floral Background at a concentration of 0.1% to 0.5%. You can adjust this percentage based on how strong you want the scent to be.
• How to Add: Add the fragrance in the final step of your formulation process, after the gel or cream has formed and cooled down, to prevent the heat from affecting the scent.

Manufacturing Steps for Each Formula

Here are the suggested steps for each of your formulations, incorporating the thickening adjustments, color, and fragrance:

Gel Formulations (Gel กระชับ, Whitening Gel #1, Whitening Gel #2)

1. Water Phase: Disperse Carbomer 940 in the water. Stir gently until fully hydrated (it will swell). For Gel กระชับ, dissolve Menthol Crystal in a small amount of ethanol or propylene glycol (if using) before adding to the water phase. Add Palmaria Palmata Extract, Safe-B3 (for whitening gels), and Gluco Bright (for Whitening Gel #2) to the water phase and stir to dissolve.
2. Neutralization: Slowly add an alkali solution (like Triethanolamine or Sodium Hydroxide solution) to the water phase while stirring gently. Continue stirring until a clear gel forms and reaches your desired consistency. Avoid high-speed mixing.
3. Add Preservative: Add Phenoxyethanol and mix gently.
4. Add Color: Disperse Light Blue Mica in a small amount of glycerin or water from the formula and add to the gel. Mix gently until evenly colored.
5. Add Fragrance: Add Eucalyptus & Spearmint (for Gel กระชับ) or Floral Background (for Whitening Gel #1 and #2) and mix gently.
6. Mix thoroughly but gently to ensure all ingredients are incorporated.

Cream Formulations (Whitening Cream #1, Whitening Cream #2, ครีมลดรอยแตกลาย, Cleansing Cream)

1. Water Phase: Combine water and water-soluble ingredients (Safe-B3, Gluco Bright, Glycolic Acid if applicable, Makeup Wash, Coco Wash). Stir to dissolve.
2. Oil Phase: Combine oil-soluble ingredients (Cocoa Butter Replacer, Mineral Oil). If using Cocoa Butter Replacer, gently heat the oil phase to 40-50°C to melt it. Add Easy Cream Maker to the oil phase and mix.
3. Emulsification: Slowly add the Oil Phase to the Water Phase while stirring continuously. Continue stirring until a cream forms and reaches your desired consistency. Avoid high-speed mixing.
4. Add Preservative: Add Phenoxyethanol and mix gently.
5. Add Color: Disperse Light Blue Mica in a small amount of oil or liquid from the formula and add to the cream. Mix gently until evenly colored.
6. Add Fragrance: Add Floral Background and mix gently.
7. Mix thoroughly but gently to ensure all ingredients are incorporated.
8. pH Adjustment (for ครีมลดรอยแตกลาย): After the cream is formed and cooled, check the pH. For Glycolic Acid to be effective and safe for general use, the final pH should be 3.5 or higher. Adjust with an alkali if necessary.
