Question

I have a serum formula for mature skin (50+) targeting lifting, wrinkles, deep lines, dark spots, pore reduction, and hydration. My skin is dry to very dry. The original formula was not suitable for my skin type as it lacked ingredients to coat the skin and prevent water loss. Could you provide a revised formula and mixing instructions suitable for dry to very dry skin, aiming for a texture that is non-sticky but not overly dry?

Answer

Hello,

Regarding your question about adjusting the serum formula for mature skin (50+) with dry to very dry skin concerns, focusing on lifting, reducing wrinkles and deep lines, reducing dark spots, minimizing pores, and increasing skin hydration, while aiming for a non-sticky but not too dry texture, the staff has provided recommendations and adjusted the formula along with mixing instructions.

The staff advised that the original formula is not suitable for dry to very dry skin as it lacks ingredients that help coat the skin and reduce water loss. They recommended adding a heavy oil and Satin Cream Maker to help emulsify water and oil.

The revised formula is as follows:

Ingredients:

  1. Matrixyl 3000 (Pal-GHK, Pal-GQPR) 5%
  2. Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline) 10%
  3. DMAE (SkinTight MD™) Liquid 3% (Adjusted down from 5% in the original formula)
  4. Panthenol (Vitamin B5) ExtraLite™ 3%
  5. Lift-Now™ 4%
  6. Safe-B3™ (Vitamin B3, Niacinamide) 3%
  7. GlucoBright™ (N-Acetyl-D Glucosamine) 4%
  8. PE-1 Aqua 2%
  9. Phenoxyethanol SA (Optiphen Plus) 0.50%
  10. Pro Polymer™ (Gel Maker) 0.50%
  11. Disodium EDTA 0.20%
  12. Satin Cream Maker 1.5%
  13. Heavy Oil (e.g., Jojoba Oil as recommended by staff) 10%
  14. Distilled Water Remaining amount to make up 100%

Mixing Instructions:

  1. Mix ingredients 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 into ingredient 14 (Distilled Water). Stir or blend until dissolved.
  2. Then add ingredient 10 (Pro Polymer™). Stir or blend until a light gel forms.
  3. Then add ingredient 12 (Satin Cream Maker). Stir or blend until the texture thickens.
  4. Then add ingredient 13 (Oil). Stir/blend until combined to get a cream texture.
  5. Finally, add ingredient 3 (DMAE) gradually, stirring well after each addition. The texture might become slightly thinner due to the electrolyte from DMAE.

This revised formula includes added oil and an emulsifier to be more suitable for your dry to very dry skin condition.

Hope this information is helpful for your purchasing decision.
