Question

I am making a serum formulation using 11% `Silky Serum Base`, but the texture is too liquid. How can I make it thicker? My formulation includes a water phase and I want the texture to be thicker.

Answer

Based on the information provided, it is correct that adding more Silky Serum Base will make the serum texture more liquid.

Conversely, adding more water tends to make the serum thicker, but adding too much water can lead to separation.

If you are using 11% Silky Serum Base and the texture is too liquid, and you want it thicker, the suggestion is to adjust the water phase by adding a thickener such as Xanthan Gum. You can try mixing water with about 1% Xanthan Gum to create a gel texture first, and then incorporate this into the rest of your formula.
