Question
Do you sell soy wax, or are there other alternatives that can replace soy wax? I want to make scented candles. Also, please provide the percentage ratio of Essential Oil that can be added to scented candles.
Answer
Alternative Waxes for Scented Candles and Essential Oil Usage
We currently do not have soy wax available. However, we offer other waxes that can be used as alternatives for making scented candles:
- Sunflower Wax: A natural wax with a suitable melting point (74-80°C).
- Candelilla Wax: A plant-based wax (melting point ~70-72.5°C) that is harder than beeswax and adds stability.
- Ceresin Wax: Available in different melting points (75°C and 93°C), useful for thickening and structure.
- Ozokerite Wax: A wax with a melting point around 66°C, also suitable for candle formulations.
When using these alternatives, you may need to adjust your formulation to achieve the desired candle properties.
For adding Essential Oil to scented candles, a general guideline is to use 6-10% of the total wax weight. Start with 6% and test; you can increase up to 10% for a stronger scent, but be careful not to exceed this as it can affect how the candle burns.
