Question

I am looking for alternatives to PPG-3 Myristyl Ether to mix with perfume for volcanic rock diffusers and scented sachets. Are there any suitable substitutes?

Also, can DPG Dipropylene Glycol be used for this purpose?

Answer

For mixing perfumes to make scented sachets or for use with volcanic rock, we have substances that can be used as a solvent alternative to PPG-3 Myristyl Ether.

Recommended Alternatives

  • PPG-3 Methyl Ether (Tripropylene Glycol Methyl Ether, TPM): This is an excellent solvent and coupling agent. It can effectively dissolve water-insoluble fragrances or essential oils and also helps reduce the stickiness of the formula. Additionally, it has a low evaporation rate, which is ideal for scented sachets where a long-lasting scent is desired.
  • PPG-2 Methyl Ether: This is a popular solvent used in various products. It has evaporative properties and is water-soluble, making it another potential option for dissolving fragrances.
