Amount of LastFix to Use in a 50 ml Perfume
Question
I’d like to ask: if making perfume in a 50 ml bottle, how many ml of lastfix should be added?
Thank you.
Answer
Using Fixatives in a 50ml Perfume
Fixatives are ingredients used in perfumery to help prolong the scent and reduce the evaporation rate of the more volatile fragrance components. The term "lastfix" likely refers to a type of fixative.
The exact amount of fixative to use in a 50ml perfume bottle depends heavily on the specific fixative material, its strength, and the desired longevity of the final fragrance. However, a general guideline for many common fixatives when added to the final perfume mixture (which includes alcohol) is typically between 1% to 3%.
For a 50ml bottle, this would translate to:
- 1% of 50ml = 0.5 ml
- 3% of 50ml = 1.5 ml
Therefore, you might consider starting with an amount between 0.5 ml and 1.5 ml of the fixative in your 50ml perfume formulation. You can adjust this amount based on testing to achieve the desired performance.
Examples of materials that function as fixatives or contribute to longevity include Ambroxan, Vetimoss, Styrax Resinoid, Labdanum Absolute, Tuberose Absolute, Styrax Absolute, Cassiffix, and Treemoss Resinoid.

This section was added after reviewing the original answer against current product availability and formulation knowledge at the stated point in time.
As of 2026-05-17, our available fragrance fixatives have specific usage guidelines. For a 50 ml perfume, we recommend:
- Sugar Fix™ or Musk Fix™: Use between 1% and 5% of the total volume. For a 50 ml bottle, this equals 0.5 ml to 2.5 ml.
- 12H Fix™: Use at a rate of up to 5%, which is 2.5 ml for a 50 ml bottle. Note that 12H Fix™ is a powder and requires dissolving with a compatible oil (like LipidSoft™ Lite) using gentle heat before mixing into your perfume.
Always start with a lower concentration and adjust based on testing to achieve your desired scent longevity without weakening the overall fragrance.
