Question

I am planning to make an anti-aging serum for oily skin with wrinkles and large pores.

My proposed formulation includes Silky Serum Base (Face/Eye) at 35%.

My mixing steps are as follows: [Assume user listed steps that expert confirmed were correct]

I have two questions regarding this formulation:

  1. Is it necessary to use Ethoxydiglycol 1% to dissolve Mild Preserved Eco™ 1% before adding it to the formula?
  2. Will adding fragrance at 0.5-1% cause the formula to separate?

Answer

Hello!

Regarding your plan to make an anti-aging serum for oily skin with wrinkles and large pores:

Your proposed mixing steps are correct.

However, please reduce the amount of Silky Serum Base (Face/Eye) to 20-25%. Using 35% is too high.

Regarding your questions:

  1. Using Ethoxydiglycol 1% to dissolve Mild Preserved Eco™ 1% is not necessary in this formula. The Silky Serum Base will help integrate Mild Preserved Eco™ into the formula, so you do not need to dissolve it separately with Ethoxydiglycol.
  2. Adding fragrance at 0.5-1% is fine and will not cause separation.
