Basic Clear Hair Serum Formula and Adding Water-Soluble Extracts
Question
Could you please provide a basic formula for a clear hair serum that can be used as a base for adding water-soluble extracts? I would like to know the ingredients and steps involved in creating this base serum, specifically using ingredients like Poly-Conditioner Pro (400 mPa.s), AnyGel™, and Mild Preserved™ COS, and how to incorporate water-soluble extracts into the finished product.
Answer
Basic Clear Hair Serum Formula
Here is a basic formula for a clear hair serum that can be used as a base for adding water-soluble extracts. This formula utilizes key ingredients to provide conditioning and a clear gel texture.
Formula Components:
- Water: 97.5%
- Poly-Conditioner Pro (400 mPa.s): 0.5% (Hair conditioning agent)
- AnyGel™: 1.0% (Clear gelling agent)
- Mild Preserved™ COS: 1.0% (Broad spectrum preservative)
Instructions:
- In the water phase, slowly sprinkle Poly-Conditioner Pro (400 mPa.s) into the water while stirring continuously. Heating the water to around 65°C can help it dissolve faster. Stir until completely dissolved and clear.
- Add AnyGel™ to the water phase and stir or blend until a clear gel texture is formed.
- Allow the mixture to cool down to below 45°C.
- Add Mild Preserved™ COS and mix thoroughly until evenly dispersed.
This base formula provides a clear, non-greasy gel that conditions the hair. You can now add water-soluble extracts to this base.
Adding Extracts:
- Water-soluble extracts can be added to the finished base serum. The percentage of extracts added will replace an equal percentage of water in the formula.
- Ensure the extracts you choose are compatible with the pH range of this formula (pH 2-8).
Remember to perform stability and challenge testing on your final product.
