Question
I purchased Poly-Conditioner Pro to use as an ingredient in a shampoo formulation. This shampoo formula uses Potassium Soap Base dissolved in water.
I would like to know if the recommended usage percentage of Poly-Conditioner Pro (0.1-0.5%) is calculated based on:
- The total weight of the finished shampoo?
- Only the weight of the Potassium Soap Base?
- Only the weight of the water used to dissolve the Potassium Soap Base?
Answer
When formulating cosmetics, the percentage of an ingredient is typically calculated based on the total weight of the finished product.
Therefore, the 0.1-0.5% of Poly-Conditioner Pro should be calculated based on the total weight of your finished shampoo, after the Potassium Soap Base has been dissolved in water and all other ingredients have been added.
For example, if your total finished shampoo weighs 100 grams, you would add 0.1 to 0.5 grams of Poly-Conditioner Pro.
