Question

I would like to know if using gold mica for a body shimmer spray on dark skin is suitable. I have dark skin and want a mica color that catches sunlight and is shimmery/glowy. I am unsure if gold is the right color choice.

Answer

Choosing Mica for Body Shimmer Spray on Dark Skin

Using gold mica is an excellent choice for a body shimmer spray, especially for dark skin tones. Gold tones beautifully complement darker skin, creating a radiant, sun-kissed glow that truly pops in sunlight.

When selecting mica for a shimmery effect, the particle size is key:

  • Size A (approx. 30 microns): Provides a subtle sheen or is suitable for coverage (like in foundation).
  • Size B (approx. 60-70 microns): Offers noticeable shimmer and sparkle.
  • Size C (approx. 150 microns): Gives a strong glittery effect, ideal for products where you want high sparkle.

For a body shimmer spray that catches sunlight and looks shimmery, you should focus on mica with larger particle sizes (Size B or C).

Recommended Mica Options for Shimmer:

  • Gold White Sparkle Mica (Size C): This mica has larger particles (Size C) perfect for adding significant sparkle and shine to your spray.
  • Light Gold Glitter Mica (Size B, 60 Micron): With Size B particles, this mica provides a strong shimmer effect that is very noticeable.
  • Brown/Gold Red Mica (size B): Another Size B option that gives a shimmery effect with a warm, reddish-brown base and gold highlights.

While Bronze Gold Mica (Size A) is a beautiful bronze-gold color, its smaller particle size (Size A) means it will provide more of a subtle glow or coverage rather than intense shimmer. If you want a strong, light-catching sparkle, opt for Size B or C gold/shimmer micas.

Therefore, gold mica is definitely a good direction, and selecting a mica with a particle size of B or C will give you the desired shimmery and sparkling effect on dark skin.
