Question

I want to create a moisturizing formula using Natural Moisturizing Amino Acids. Can I add Sodium Lactate and Urea to this formula? Is using Natural Moisturizing Amino Acids alone similar to using a combination of Sodium PCA, Sodium Lactate, and Urea? What are the recommended usage percentages when combining them?

Answer

Based on the information provided, using Natural Moisturizing Amino Acids is similar in that it contributes to Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). The Natural Moisturizing Amino Acids product already contains Sodium PCA, along with other amino acids (L-Serine, L-Glycine, L-Alanine, L-Arginine, L-Lysine, L-Threonine, L-Proline, Glutamic Acid), Trimethylglycine, and Sorbitol.

Therefore, if you use Natural Moisturizing Amino Acids, you are already incorporating Sodium PCA and a blend of other NMF components. Adding Sodium Lactate and Urea to a formula containing Natural Moisturizing Amino Acids is a suitable way to further boost the NMF effect by including these specific ingredients. However, you do not need to add additional Sodium PCA separately, as it is already part of the Natural Moisturizing Amino Acids blend.

The staff recommends using these ingredients at low concentrations, typically around 2-3% for each added component, when combining them.
