คำถาม

I would like to make a sunscreen that also reduces melasma and brightens the skin. Can Z-White (Zinc Glycinate) be mixed into a sunscreen cream? If not, are there any other ingredients that can be added for melasma reduction and skin brightening?

Combining Whitening Agents and Sunscreen

Regarding the use of Z-White (Zinc Glycinate) in sunscreen formulations, information on its suitability was not found in our search.

For the purpose of reducing melasma and brightening the skin within a cream base, an alternative ingredient such as GlyciWhite™ (Glycinamide HCL) can be considered.

  • GlyciWhite™ is described as effectively counteracting the melanin production process, making it suitable for whitening products like lotions and creams.
  • The recommended usage rate for GlyciWhite™ is 3-10%.

When formulating a sunscreen, the choice of UV filters is critical. While Zinc Oxide is a widely used sunscreen ingredient, it's important to select a type specifically suitable for sunscreens. The description for one type of Zinc Oxide found in our search (Ultra-Fine, Non-Yellow, Non-Coated, USP) explicitly states it is not suitable for sunscreen formulations, even though it has UVA filtering ability.

Combining skin brightening agents with UV filters requires careful formulation expertise to ensure the stability and efficacy of both components in the final product.
