Question

Regarding sunscreen formulation, I have two questions:

1. Can I substitute `Luxury Cream Maker` for `Light Cream Maker`? What are the similarities and differences in properties between these two? Which one is better to use?
2. Is the color ingredient `Beige Iron Oxides EasyMix` necessary? If so, how much should I add, and what color tone will it give when applied to the skin?

Answer

Regarding your questions about making sunscreen:

  1. Luxury Cream Maker vs. Light Cream Maker:

    • The main difference is the texture they create. Light Cream Maker results in a light, semi-liquid texture (a mix of cream and water). Luxury Cream Maker produces a distinct cream texture that is smoother, still light, and non-greasy.
    • Neither is inherently "better"; they have different strengths.
    • Using Luxury Cream Maker in sunscreen can help achieve a higher SPF because it allows sunscreen ingredients to spread more evenly on the skin compared to Light Cream Maker.
    • Light Cream Maker is better suited for formulations where a very light texture is the priority.
  2. Beige Iron Oxides EasyMix:

    • This ingredient provides a beige/flesh color tone to the product.
    • It is not necessary to include this ingredient in your sunscreen formulation for it to function as a sunscreen.

Hope this summary helps with your formulation!
