Question

I am formulating a serum and want to know if I can mix Copper Peptide and Stabilized Vitamin C in the same formula.

Also, what texture will I get if I use a base formulation containing:

  • Cyclomethicone
  • Water
  • Warp Cream Maker

What other ingredients can I add to this base to address oily skin, acne scars, and dullness?

Answer

Hello! Thank you for your question about the serum formulation.

According to the advice from our staff, it is not recommended to mix Copper Peptide and Stabilized Vitamin C in the same formula. This is because Copper can potentially interfere with the stability or efficacy of Vitamin C. You should choose to use only one of these ingredients in a single formula, or use them in separate products.

Regarding the texture of the product from the formula you provided (containing Cyclomethicone, Water, and Warp Cream Maker), it is highly likely to result in an emulsion texture (similar to a cream or lotion) rather than a clear serum. This is especially true with the inclusion of Warp Cream Maker, which is likely an emulsifier and thickener.

As for adding other ingredients, this depends on whether you decide to focus on Copper Peptide or Stabilized Vitamin C. Once you have chosen, we can then recommend other ingredients that are compatible and suitable for addressing your skin concerns (oily skin, acne scars, dullness) more effectively.
