Compatibility of GreyReverse™ with Henna Hair Dye
Question
If I color my hair with henna, will it affect the effectiveness of GreyReverse™?
When applying it to the scalp, once the roots start growing, should it be applied to both the scalp and the roots?
- For example: Apply to the scalp for 1 week, and then as the roots grow, apply to both the scalp and the hair for 2-3 weeks until the next hair coloring.
It is very difficult to stay with grey hair for 3 entire months. Do you have any other ideas or suggestions?
Answer
Using GreyReverse™ (Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-20) in combination with henna is possible and should not negatively impact the effectiveness of the peptide, provided you follow a few key application principles.
1. Compatibility with Henna
Henna works by coating the hair shaft with natural pigment, whereas GreyReverse™ works at the biological level within the hair follicle on the scalp to stimulate melanin production for new hair growth.
- No Chemical Interference: There is no known chemical conflict between henna and this peptide.
- Absorption is Key: The most important factor is that the peptide must reach the scalp. When you apply henna, ensure you rinse it thoroughly from the scalp so that there is no thick residue blocking the absorption of the peptide treatment in the following days.
2. Application Strategy
You are correct that the treatment should be focused on the scalp.
- Focus on the Scalp: Since the peptide stimulates the hair follicle, applying it to the "dead" hair shaft (the grey hair already grown out) will not change its color. You must apply it directly to the scalp skin.
- Daily Consistency: For the best results, apply the solution to the scalp every day. You do not need to wait for roots to grow to start; the peptide needs time to "re-program" the follicles.
- Application Timing: If you just colored your hair with henna, wait until the scalp is clean and dry before applying the peptide.
3. Managing the 3-Month Transition
It typically takes about 3 months of continuous use to see a visible reduction in grey hair because the peptide affects the new hair growing from the root.
- Continue Coloring: You do not have to stay with grey hair for 3 months. You can continue to use henna or other hair dyes to cover existing grey hair while the peptide works on the new growth underneath.
- Root Touch-ups: Between henna applications, you can use temporary root touch-up sprays or powders. These are usually easy to wash off and won't interfere with the daily application of your scalp treatment.
- Patience: Because hair grows slowly (about 1cm per month), the "reversed" hair color will only become visible as the new, pigmented hair emerges from the scalp.
Suggestions for Best Results:
- Concentration: Use a concentration of 5% for the most effective results in a leave-on scalp spray or serum.
- Clean Scalp: Apply the peptide to a clean scalp (free of heavy oils or styling products) to ensure maximum penetration into the follicles.
- Massage: Gently massage the scalp after application to help the liquid absorb and stimulate blood flow to the follicles.
