Cream Formulation: Achieving Stretchy, Soft, Shiny Texture and Avoiding Warming Sensation
Question
After attempting to thicken a cream formula by increasing Satin Mousse as previously advised, the resulting cream did not have the desired texture. I am aiming for a cream with a stretchy, soft, and slightly shiny feel after application.
Additionally, the cream causes a warming sensation when applied to the skin.
Could you please advise on how to adjust the formula to achieve the desired stretchy, soft, and slightly shiny texture and eliminate the warming sensation? I can provide the new formula I plan to try for evaluation.
Answer
Hello!
I understand that you tried following the previous advice but the cream did not turn out as desired and felt hot.
Generally, the "stretchy" texture in cream is often achieved by using a suitable amount of Glycol group ingredients together with certain gelling agents or thickeners. The "soft" and "slightly shiny" feeling after application usually comes from the oil phase (emollients) in the formula.
The warming sensation when applied might be caused by certain ingredients, such as Propylene Glycol if used in too high a concentration, or it could be due to the interaction of other ingredients in the formula.
To provide more specific advice, could you please share the new formula you are planning to try? This way, I can help evaluate the possibility of separation and suggest adjustments to achieve the desired texture.
Thank you!
