Question

I have revised my cream formula and successfully achieved a cream texture. I would like to ask the following questions about the revised formula:

  1. Is this formula suitable for dry skin, age 45-50, for both daytime and nighttime use?
  2. Which ingredients in this formula might potentially cause irritation or allergy, specifically mentioning concerns about Phenoxyethanol SA and Pitera?

Answer

Hello,

Regarding your revised formula and questions:

  1. Suitability for dry skin, age 45-50, day/night use:
Your revised formula includes several ingredients beneficial for dry and mature skin, such as Shea Butter, Ceramide 2, and Double Hyaluron for moisturization, and peptides (Argireline, Matrixyl 3000), Pitera, Repair Activator, and Adenosine for anti-aging benefits. These ingredients make the formula generally suitable for your skin type and age group, and can be used both day and night. For daytime use, remember to apply sunscreen separately.

  2. Potential for irritation or allergy:
As the staff previously mentioned, Phenoxyethanol SA at 1% can potentially cause skin irritation, especially for sensitive skin. It is recommended to follow the staff's advice and replace Phenoxyethanol SA with a gentler preservative like Mild Preserved Eco at 1.0% if you are concerned about irritation.

While the other ingredients in your formula are generally well-tolerated, individual skin sensitivity can occur with any ingredient. Fermented ingredients like Pitera can sometimes cause reactions in sensitive individuals. It is always a good practice to perform a patch test on a small area of skin before applying the product to your face, especially when using a new formulation.

Your adjustment to increase Cetyl Alcohol to achieve the desired cream texture is noted.

Hope this helps!
