Formulating with Deoxyarbutin (D-Arbutin) for Stability

To ensure the stability of Deoxyarbutin (D-Arbutin) in your formulation and protect it from degradation by heat and light, follow these guidelines:

• Mixing Method: Deoxyarbutin is soluble in oil. It should be dissolved in the oil phase of your formulation.
• Temperature: Use heat between 50-60°C to help dissolve the Deoxyarbutin in the oil phase. Avoid heating above 60°C. If higher temperatures are necessary for other ingredients, minimize the exposure time to prevent the Deoxyarbutin from losing quality.
• pH Level: The optimal pH range for Deoxyarbutin stability is 5.0-5.8. Ensure your final formulation falls within this range.
• Enhancing Stability:
  • Consider adding ActiveProtec™ OX at 0.6% to help prevent formula discoloration.
  • Including Vitamin E Acetate at 0.1% can also help improve the stability of Deoxyarbutin.
• Light Protection: Once the formulation is complete, package the final product in a container that provides good protection against light.
• Storage: For long-term storage of the raw ingredient, keep it in a refrigerator (or freezer if possible) away from sunlight and moisture, in a tightly sealed container. The shelf life is at least 24 months under proper storage conditions.
