Question
Could you please clarify the difference between `SODIUM CHLORIDE IRRIGATION U.S.P.` and `STERILE Water Irrigation U.S.P.`? Can `SODIUM CHLORIDE IRRIGATION U.S.P.` be used interchangeably with distilled water or `STERILE Water Irrigation U.S.P.` in cosmetic formulations? I need pure water for mixing cosmetics.
Answer
Regarding your question about SODIUM CHLORIDE IRRIGATION U.S.P. and whether it can replace distilled water or is the same as STERILE Water Irrigation U.S.P.:
- SODIUM CHLORIDE IRRIGATION U.S.P. is saline water.
- STERILE Water Irrigation U.S.P. is pure water.
Therefore, they are not the same.
SODIUM CHLORIDE IRRIGATION U.S.P. cannot be used instead of distilled water or pure water, especially for cosmetic formulation, because it contains salt. Pure or distilled water is required for many cosmetic applications.
