Difficulty Measuring pH of Colored Gel Formulation

Question

I made a dark green gel formulation. I tested it on my skin and it didn't cause irritation, but I'm still unsure about the exact pH. How can I accurately determine the pH?

Answer

It's difficult to determine the exact pH of your gel formulation without a reliable measurement tool like a calibrated pH meter or accurate pH strips. pH strips can sometimes give inconsistent readings, especially with colored or thick solutions. Based on the conversation, an estimate of 6-7 was suggested, and you mentioned it didn't cause irritation, which is a good sign, but doesn't confirm the exact pH.

To know the precise pH, you would need to use a proper pH testing method. Whether the formulation is "usable" depends on its intended purpose and ensuring its stability and safety, which requires further evaluation beyond just pH.

Unfortunately, I cannot directly measure the pH of your homemade product or assess its usability. My tools are designed to search for information about products in our database.
