Question

I am formulating a product and plan to dissolve 2% MSH White in 10% Avocado oil by heating to 60°C, following the recommended 1:5 ratio (MSH White : oil). Activated Resorcinol is also an oil-soluble ingredient. Do I need to dissolve Activated Resorcinol separately, perhaps in LipidSoft, or can I dissolve both Activated Resorcinol and MSH White together in the same heated Avocado oil phase?

Answer

Based on the information provided, both Activated Resorcinol and MSH White are oil-soluble ingredients. You can dissolve both of them together in your oil phase, such as Avocado oil, by heating.

Your plan to heat 10% Avocado oil to 60°C to dissolve 2% MSH White is appropriate based on the suggested 1:5 ratio (MSH White : Oil). You can add Activated Resorcinol to this same heated oil phase to dissolve it simultaneously.

Generally, it is recommended to use an oil amount that is 3-5 times the total amount of the oil-soluble ingredients you are dissolving. However, the exact amount needed can vary depending on the specific oil and ingredients used, so testing might be beneficial to find the minimum effective concentration if you wish to minimize the oil content in your formula.

Therefore, you do not need to dissolve Activated Resorcinol separately in LipidSoft if you are using Avocado oil as the main solvent in your oil phase.
