Question

I am interested in making my own cleansing oil using Oilsify 15. I have a few questions:

  • Can Oilsify 15 be mixed directly with a carrier oil?
  • If Oilsify 15 is a main component, will the formula turn milky white when mixed with water?
  • Will Oilsify 15 cause skin irritation or clogging?
  • Regarding an example formula, can I replace Mineral Oil with another carrier oil, omit LipidSoft™ Palm, and omit the preservative (Phenoxyethanol) if making it for personal use?

Answer

Regarding making your own cleansing oil with Oilsify 15:

  • You can mix Oilsify 15 directly with your desired carrier oil.
  • Yes, if Oilsify 15 is a main component in the formula, it will turn milky white when mixed with water.
  • Oilsify 15 is a surfactant (cleansing agent). It can cause skin irritation if left on the skin without rinsing, which is typical for cleansing agents. It does not cause clogging.
  • Regarding modifying the example formula:
    • You can replace Mineral Oil with your preferred carrier oil.
    • You can omit LipidSoft™ Palm; it is not necessary.
    • You can omit the preservative (Phenoxyethanol) if you are making it for personal use, as the formula does not contain water, which makes it difficult for microorganisms to grow.
