DMAE Toner Formula: Stickiness, Penetration Enhancers, and Absorption
Question
Regarding my revised toner formula containing a high concentration of DMAE and using 10% Ethoxydiglycol as a penetration enhancer, I have the following questions:
- Will the toner be sticky?
- Are there any adjustments needed for the formula? Specifically, I would like advice on:
- The suitability and optimal percentage of Ethoxydiglycol.
- Whether PE-1 Aqua would be a better alternative.
- Information regarding the absorption of this liquid formula into the skin.
Answer
Based on the staff's replies regarding your revised DMAE toner formula:
Will the toner be sticky?
Reducing stickiness in a formula with a high concentration of DMAE is quite difficult. The staff suggested considering adding silicones or reducing the amount of DMAE to help with this issue. Are there any adjustments needed?
The staff advised that the 10% concentration of Ethoxydiglycol might be too high. Based on previous information, 5% should be sufficient, as using excessive amounts of penetration enhancers can potentially have negative effects. They also noted that PE-1 Aqua would be a more effective penetration enhancer for DMAE, but it is currently out of stock.
The staff is still awaiting expert advice regarding the absorption of the liquid formula into the skin.
