Dry Shampoo Formulation (Aerosol and Regular Spray)
Question
I am making a dry shampoo aerosol formulation using the store's Dry Shampoo Powder. I understand the recommended ratio is 8% powder.
- What does the remaining 92% consist of? Is it just gas?
- Can this
Dry Shampoo Powderbe used in a regular spray bottle (non-aerosol)?
Answer
Dry Shampoo Aerosol Formulation
Regarding the dry shampoo aerosol formulation using the store's Dry Shampoo Powder, the recommended ratio is indeed 8% powder.
The remaining 92% is Ethyl Alcohol, not just gas. The formulation you prepare before sending it for aerosol filling is a mixture of:
- Dry Shampoo Powder: 8%
- Ethyl Alcohol: 92%
The gas is added separately by the factory during the aerosol filling process. You only need to prepare the liquid/powder mixture according to the 8% powder and 92% alcohol ratio.
If you are using a regular spray bottle (non-aerosol), it might be possible, but as the staff mentioned, you would need to find a spray head with a large enough nozzle to dispense the powder effectively, as the dry shampoo is in powder form.
