Effective Melasma Treatment Cream Formulation

For melasma issues that haven't shown results with previous products, we recommend highly effective ingredients known to treat melasma through multiple mechanisms:

• Azelaic Acid (Liquid Azelaic™): Helps reduce pigment production, lighten dark spots, and also controls oiliness and reduces clogged pores. This is a water-soluble form of Azelaic Acid that is gentler than the regular type.
• Activated Resorcinol™ (4-Butyl Resorcinol): A very highly effective ingredient that inhibits the Tyrosinase enzyme, the key enzyme in pigment production, and also helps prevent pigment transfer to the upper skin layers. It is significantly more effective than Kojic Acid and Arbutin.
• Phenylethyl Resorcinol (e.q. SymWhite 377): Another highly safe and effective whitening agent. It inhibits pigment production and also has antioxidant properties. It is many times more effective than Kojic Acid.
• Pumpkin Renew™: Pumpkin extract that gently accelerates skin cell turnover, similar to AHA but with less irritation. Exfoliation helps shed accumulated pigment, leading to better results for melasma.

Example Melasma Treatment Cream Formulation:

Here is an example formulation combining key ingredients for effective melasma treatment:

• Key Ingredients:
  • Azelaic Acid (Liquid Azelaic™): 10%
  • Activated Resorcinol™: 0.5%
  • Pumpkin Renew™: 3-5%
• Other Ingredients (for cream base and enhanced performance):
  • Cream Maker (e.g., Light Cream Maker™ or Satin Cream Maker™)
  • Skin Conditioning Oil (e.g., LipidSoft or Mineral Oil)
  • Purified Water
  • Disodium EDTA: 0.2% (Helps improve the stability of Activated Resorcinol and Phenylethyl Resorcinol)
  • Preservative (as appropriate)
  • Antioxidant (e.g., ActiveProtec™ OX)
  • Anti-irritant (e.g., Natural Bisabolol)

Mixing Instructions (Summary):

Generally, prepare the water and oil phases separately. Then, gradually add the water phase to the oil phase while stirring or blending until a cream texture is formed. Key active ingredients (Azelaic Acid, Activated Resorcinol, Pumpkin Renew) should be added in the final step after the cream has cooled down (temperature not exceeding 40-50°C). Adjust the formula's pH to the appropriate range (around 4.5-5.5 is suitable for the stability of Activated Resorcinol and Phenylethyl Resorcinol, and is also within the effective range for Azelaic Acid and Pumpkin Renew).

Important Considerations:

• Always perform a patch test before full application.
• Avoid strong sunlight and use a high SPF sunscreen daily, as sunlight is a major factor in worsening melasma.
• Results may vary for each individual and require continuous use for at least 4 weeks or more to start seeing improvement.
