Eye Cream Formulation and Ingredient Selection for Dark Circles, Wrinkles, and Moisture
Question
I am developing an eye cream formulation targeting fine lines, dark circles, puffiness, and dryness. I plan to use REGU®-AGE and Apple Stem Cell Extract (AppleCell™ Powder). I was also considering Haloxyl, but it seems unavailable. Staff suggested adding Pal-GHK, Pal-GQPR (eq Matrixyl 3000) and using a Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base or Double Hyaluron Liquid for moisture, potentially increasing AppleCell™ Powder to 5%. Could you provide feedback on this ingredient combination and base selection for my eye cream goals?
Answer
Eye Cream Formulation Feedback
Based on your goals for reducing fine lines, dark circles, and increasing moisture around the eyes, the initial ingredients you've chosen are a good starting point.
- REGU®-AGE is effective for reducing dark circles and puffiness around the eyes by improving microcirculation and strengthening the skin tissue.
- Apple Stem Cell Extract (AppleCell™ Powder) helps to prolong the life of skin cells, contributing to anti-aging and keeping the skin looking youthful. As the staff suggested, using this at a higher concentration like 5% could provide more noticeable results.
Regarding Haloxyl, it appears this ingredient may not be currently available under that specific name.
Adding Pal-GHK, Pal-GQPR (eq Matrixyl 3000), as suggested by the staff, is an excellent idea for targeting wrinkles. This peptide blend stimulates collagen synthesis, improves skin elasticity, and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
For the base, you have a few good options depending on the desired texture and how dry the skin around your eyes is:
- Aloe Vera Gel (Lite) or Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy): These are good moisturizing bases. The Lite version is very light and absorbs quickly, suitable if you don't like stickiness or if your skin isn't very dry. The Heavy version provides more moisture and a slightly richer feel.
- Double Hyaluron Liquid or Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base: These bases focus on providing intense moisture using hyaluronic acid. Double Hyaluron Liquid contains both standard and nano-sized hyaluronic acid for moisture at different skin depths, while the Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base is a general moisturizing gel base. These are great choices if the skin around your eyes is dry and needs significant hydration, as recommended by the staff.
To achieve a slightly thicker consistency, opting for Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy) or a dedicated Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base might be better than the Lite Aloe Vera Gel, which is designed to be very light.
In summary, a combination of Apple Stem Cell Extract (AppleCell™ Powder) (potentially at 5%), REGU®-AGE, and Pal-GHK, Pal-GQPR (eq Matrixyl 3000) in a suitable base like Double Hyaluron Liquid, Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base, or Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy) would create a comprehensive eye cream targeting your concerns.
