Eye Cream Formulation for Dark Circles, Puffiness, and Wrinkles
Question
I am 20 years old and have under-eye puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles caused by lack of sleep (not allergies). I would like feedback on the following eye cream formulation:
Eye Cream Formulation:
- Safe-B3™ (Niacinamide) - 3%
- GlucoBright™ - 3%
- Slim-Coffee™ - 1.5%
- Wrinkle-Fill™ - 2%
- REGU®-AGE - 3%
- Reservoir-Tech - 2% (Will this ingredient, which forms a film on the skin, make the formula sticky?)
- Mild Preserved Eco™ - 1%
- Water - 86.5%
Thank you in advance.
Answer
Eye Cream Formulation Feedback
Hello! Thank you for sharing your eye cream formulation. It's a good approach to address puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles caused by lack of sleep with a combination of active ingredients.
Let's look at the ingredients you've chosen and their potential benefits for the eye area:
- Safe-B3™ (Niacinamide): This ingredient is excellent for reducing wrinkles and dark spots. It also helps improve skin moisture, strengthens the skin barrier, and can increase blood flow, which is beneficial for dark circles caused by poor circulation.
- GlucoBright™ (Acetyl Glucosamine): When used with Niacinamide (Safe-B3™), GlucoBright™ helps with skin brightening and reducing dark spots. It also promotes the skin's natural production of Hyaluronic Acid, which keeps the skin soft, moist, and can help reduce wrinkles.
- Slim-Coffee™ (Caffeine): Caffeine is known for its ability to help reduce puffiness and dark circles around the eyes.
- Wrinkle-Fill™ (Acetyl-Tyrosine): This ingredient has been shown to help reduce wrinkles and improve skin firmness by increasing collagen and GAGs in the skin.
- REGU®-AGE: This is a specialized ingredient designed to specifically target dark circles and swelling around the eyes. It also helps strengthen the delicate skin in this area and provides some protection.
- Mild Preserved Eco™: This is a gentle preservative to keep your formulation stable and safe.
Regarding your question about Reservoir-Tech making the formula sticky: Reservoir-Tech works by forming a film on the skin to help retain active ingredients and allow for gradual absorption. This film-forming property can potentially contribute to a slightly sticky feel, depending on the overall formulation and concentration. Your proposed concentration of 2% is on the lower side of the recommended range (2.5-5%), which might help minimize this effect, but it's something to be aware of.
One small note on your percentages: The total percentage of your ingredients adds up to 102%, which is slightly over 100%. You'll need to adjust the percentages slightly so they total exactly 100% for your final formulation.
Overall, this is a well-thought-out combination of ingredients targeting your specific concerns. I recommend making the slight adjustment to the percentages and then testing the formulation to see how it feels on your skin and its effectiveness.
