Eyebrow Wax Formulation Guidelines

Creating a dark eyebrow wax involves combining waxes, oils/emollients, and pigments. The specific ratio of waxes to oils will determine the final texture and hold of the wax.

Here are some types of ingredients commonly used, along with examples from our product range:

• Waxes: Provide structure and hold. Different waxes offer different properties like hardness, shine, and texture.

  • Tribehenin: A soft wax that can improve texture and color payoff.
  • Sunflower Wax or Rice Bran Wax: Plant-based waxes that contribute to structure and can help prevent oil separation.
  • Microcrystalline Wax: Helps adjust viscosity, improves color uniformity, and gives a smooth texture.

• Oils/Emollients: Help to soften the wax, make it easier to apply, and provide a smooth feel.

  • Mineral Oil: A common emollient base.

• Pigments: Provide the dark color.

  • Iron Oxides Black: A standard cosmetic pigment for black color.
  • You can use the powder form like Iron Oxides Black (Ultra-fine, Methicone-Coated), which requires thorough dispersion, or a pre-dispersed version like ReadyMix™ Iron Oxides Black (Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate Based) for easier mixing in oil-based formulas.

Basic Mixing Steps (General Guideline):

1. Combine the waxes and oils in a heat-resistant container.
2. Heat gently while stirring until all waxes are completely melted and the mixture is clear.
3. In a separate small container, disperse the black pigment in a small amount of the heated oil phase until smooth and lump-free. Ensure the pigment is fully dispersed (this is crucial for even color).
4. Carefully add the dispersed pigment mixture to the main wax/oil mixture.
5. Stir continuously while the mixture cools to ensure the pigment remains evenly distributed and doesn't settle. Stir until the mixture starts to thicken.
6. Pour the mixture into your desired container before it fully solidifies.
7. Allow to cool completely to room temperature to set.
