Facial Spray with Rose Water and Penetration Enhancer

When creating a water-based facial spray using 70% Rose Water, adding a penetration enhancer is not strictly mandatory, but it can be beneficial.

Why use a penetration enhancer?

Penetration enhancers help active ingredients in your formulation absorb into the skin more effectively. While Rose Water itself has soothing and beneficial properties, a penetration enhancer can help deliver these properties better and improve the overall efficacy of the spray, especially if you plan to add other active ingredients later.

Suitable Water-Soluble Penetration Enhancers:

For a water-based formula like your facial spray, you need a penetration enhancer that is soluble in water. Based on the available ingredients, two options are suitable:

• Tetrahydropiperine (Natural Penetration Enhancer): This ingredient helps transport various ingredients into the skin. It is water-soluble (though requires dissolving in a solvent like Glycerin or Propylene Glycol first) and can be used at a very low rate, typically 0.01%.
• TransMoist™ (PPG-24-Glycereth-24): This ingredient not only helps bring ingredients into the skin but also provides moisturization and gives the formula a faster-absorbing feel. It is easily mixed into the water phase and is typically used at a rate of 1-10% (2% recommended).

Ingredients like Hexa-B3™ are oil-soluble and would not be suitable for your purely water-based spray.
