Answer

Feedback on Your Dry Skin Formulation

Thank you for sharing your proposed formulation for dry skin and your current routine. It's great that you are looking into specific ingredients to address your skin concerns.

First, it's important to note that the percentages in your proposed formula (95% Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate + 25% Distilled water + 95% Rose Hip Oil) add up to 215%. In any cosmetic formulation, the percentages of all ingredients must always sum up to exactly 100%. You will need to adjust the percentages of your ingredients so they total 100%.

Let's look at the ingredients you've chosen:

  • Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate: This ingredient is known for its ability to nourish and revitalize the skin, helping to make it smooth and hydrated. It can be used in a wide range of concentrations (1-100%) in water-based products like serums or lotions.

  • Rose Hip Oil: This oil is excellent for repairing and moisturizing dry and sensitive skin. It helps reduce inflammation, restore skin damaged by sun exposure, and improve the appearance of wrinkles and scars. It's rich in essential fatty acids that are crucial for maintaining healthy skin. Rose Hip Oil can also be used at high concentrations (1-100%) and is typically added to the oil phase of a formulation.

Both Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate and Rose Hip Oil are beneficial for dry and dehydrated skin. A simple formulation combining these two ingredients (at appropriate percentages totaling 100%) could provide hydration and nourishment.

Considering your current routine of using Egyptian cream and coconut oil, which are quite rich, a lighter serum or oil blend with Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate and Rose Hip Oil could be a good addition or alternative, depending on your preference and how your skin responds.

When formulating, remember to consider the texture and feel you desire, as well as the stability of the final product. For a water-based product containing Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, you would typically need a preservative. If you are making an oil blend with Rose Hip Oil, a preservative is generally not needed, but an antioxidant like Vitamin E could help extend the shelf life of the oil.

Adjusting the percentages to 100% is the crucial first step in developing this formulation.
