Feedback on Night Cream, Serum, and Sunscreen Formulations

Question

I would like to request feedback on the following cosmetic formulations I have developed:

1. Night Cream Formula:

  • Matrixyl™ 3000
  • Argireline
  • Ethoxydiglycol
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Tween 20
  • Light Cream Maker
  • MOIST72™
  • Shea Butter
  • Grape Seed Oil
  • Rose Hip Oil
  • Water

I included Tween 20 as I thought it was needed to emulsify the water and oil phases. Is this correct?

2. Serum Formula:

  • WaterLock™
  • MOIST72™
  • Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate
  • Aloe Vera Extract
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Hyaluronic Acid Nano
  • Vitamin B5
  • Vitamin B12
  • Light Cream Maker™
  • Flora Solve™
  • Water

I used Flora Solve™ based on seeing it used for mixing fragrance in water and oil phases. Is this ingredient appropriate for this serum formula, which appears to be water-based with no oils?

3. Sunscreen Formula:

  • Zinc Dioxide
  • Titanium Dioxide
  • Cyclomethicone
  • Warp Cream Maker™
  • Water
  • Vitamin B3
  • Vitamin E
  • BB Micro Silk

Are the ingredients in this sunscreen formula compatible? Are there any recommendations to improve stability and texture, particularly regarding stickiness, oiliness, and white cast from the physical filters?

Answer

Formulation Feedback

Night Cream Formula

Your night cream formula includes Matrixyl™ 3000, Argireline, Ethoxydiglycol, Propylene Glycol, Tween 20, Light Cream Maker, MOIST72™, Shea Butter, Grape Seed Oil, Rose Hip Oil, and water.

The staff questioned the inclusion of Tween 20. You explained that you thought it was needed as an emulsifier for the water and oil phases. The staff clarified that Tween 20 can be removed because Light Cream Maker already serves as the emulsifying agent in this formula.

Serum Formula

Your serum formula contains WaterLock™, MOIST72™, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Aloe Vera Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid Nano, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B12, Light Cream Maker™, Flora Solve™, and water.

The staff asked about the purpose of Flora Solve™ in this formula. You mentioned seeing it used for mixing fragrance in water and oil phases. The staff noted that your serum formula appears to be water-based with no oils and suggested that if you intend to make a clear gel serum, you could use gelling agents like Pro Polymer or Xanthan Gum instead of Light Cream Maker™ and Flora Solve™.

Sunscreen Formula

Your sunscreen formula includes Zinc Dioxide, Titanium Dioxide, Cyclomethicone, Warp Cream Maker™, water, Vitamin B3, Vitamin E, and BB Micro Silk.

The staff confirmed that the ingredients in this sunscreen formula are compatible. They provided specific recommendations to improve the formula's stability and texture:

  • Use Nano EasyDisperse™ types of Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide for better stability.
  • If you are concerned about the texture being sticky or oily, you can remove the oil-based Vitamin E.
  • Regarding the white cast often associated with physical sunscreens (Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide), using nano-sized particles will help significantly reduce this effect compared to larger particle sizes.

Overall, the staff's feedback provides valuable guidance on optimizing your formulas for stability and desired texture.
