Question
I used too much Pro Polymer Silk (Polyquaternium-37) and the texture became very thick, similar to hair gel. Is it possible to fix this after the mixture is complete?
Answer
Fixing an Over-Thickened Formulation with Polyquaternium-37
If you've added too much Pro Polymer Silk (Polyquaternium-37) and your formulation is too thick, you can generally fix this by adding more of the liquid phase of your formula.
Since Polyquaternium-37 is water-soluble, the easiest way to reduce the viscosity is to gradually add more water (or the primary solvent in your formulation) while stirring continuously. Add small amounts at a time, mix thoroughly, and check the consistency until you reach your desired texture.
This method helps to dilute the thickener concentration and reduce the overall viscosity of the product.
