Fixing Serum Separation with Pro Polymer and Cyclomethicone
Question
My serum formula containing `Pro Polymer` and `Cyclomethicone` has separated. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it? Is the formula ruined? Do I need to add `SiliSolve`?
Answer
It sounds like you're experiencing separation in your serum mixture. This is likely because Cyclomethicone is a silicone that doesn't mix directly with water.
As suggested by other users, Pro Polymer acts as a thickener and emulsifier that can help integrate the Cyclomethicone into the water phase.
Your formula is not ruined. You can try adding a bit more Pro Polymer (perhaps starting with an additional 0.25% to 0.5% as suggested) and mixing thoroughly. Continue mixing or stirring until the mixture becomes a uniform gel-like consistency.
You don't necessarily need SiliSolve™ in this case, as Pro Polymer is capable of emulsifying silicones like Cyclomethicone into water-based formulas.
Adding more Pro Polymer and ensuring thorough mixing should help resolve the separation and achieve the desired texture.
