Floral Water Facial Spray: Preservation Needs & Ingredient Compatibility with Reservoir-Tech
Question
I have two questions regarding cosmetic formulation:
Regarding Reservoir-Tech, can water-soluble ingredients from categories other than whitening be used normally? Specifically, are the following whitening ingredients compatible with Reservoir-Tech:
- Tetrahydrocurcuminoids
- resveratol
- Oxyresveratrol
- Lemon Peel Extract
- Alpha Arbutin
If I use rose water or lavender water as the main base (around 80-100%) for a facial spray intended for hydration and refreshing throughout the day (with the remaining 0-20% being other nourishing ingredients), do I need to add a preservative?
Answer
Regarding Reservoir-Tech and whitening ingredients:
According to the staff's response, the specific whitening ingredients you mentioned (Tetrahydrocurcuminoids, resveratol, Oxyresveratrol, Lemon Peel Extract, Alpha Arbutin) have not been tested for compatibility with Reservoir-Tech. Therefore, it cannot be confirmed if they can be used effectively or if you will get the expected benefits when using them in a formula with Reservoir-Tech. However, water-soluble ingredients from other categories (not whitening) can be used normally with Reservoir-Tech.
Regarding rose water and lavender water as a base (80-100%):
Based on the staff's reply, you do not need to add an additional preservative if you use rose water or lavender water as the main base (80-100%), provided that the mixing process is clean and all equipment used is properly sterilized, for example, by spraying with alcohol before use.
