Foaming Agents for Bar Soap

For adding foam to bar soap or creating a foaming bar soap, the following ingredients are recommended:

• BabyFoam™ (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate): This is a gentle anionic surfactant in super fine powder form. It is suitable for use as a main detergent in gentle formulas like baby soap and facial cleansers, and can also be used as a secondary detergent to increase foam. It is explicitly mentioned as suitable for use in solid formulations like syndet bars or cleansing powders.
• IseFoam™ (Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate): This is a gentle detergent in flake form that produces good foam. It is commonly used in bath bombs and is suitable for body and hair cleansing products.
• Cond-Foam™ (Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Powder): This detergent is available in powder form and is suitable for use in dry formulas such as cleansing powder. It provides high gentleness and good foaming, especially when the formula is in the pH range of 5-6.

Additionally, there are ready-made bar soap bases available that provide good foam and are gentle on the skin:

• Syndet Bar (Soap Free, pH 4.5-5.5): An alkaline-free soap base suitable for sensitive skin, using amino acids for cleaning. It has a pH close to the skin.
• Clear Soap Bar (Amino Acids Based, pH 5-6, Soap-Free): A clear, translucent bar soap base made from amino acids. It is gentle on the skin, soap-free, and has a slightly acidic pH suitable for the skin.

When formulating, consider the desired foam characteristics (soft, creamy, abundant) and the compatibility of the foaming agent with your chosen bar soap base.
