Formula for Acne Scars and Pitted Scars

Question

I need a formula to treat existing acne scars (red/dark spots) and pitted scars. My current approach using Onion Extract doesn't seem effective for this. Could you suggest a suitable formula? Also, I noticed the product I received is a very light blue liquid. Is this normal for Copper Peptide?

Answer

Formula Feedback for Acne Scars and Pitted Scars

Based on the discussion, the initial formula with Onion Extract (Hi-Quercetin®) is not the most effective for treating existing acne scars and pitted scars. Onion Extract is primarily beneficial for preventing scar formation during the healing process.

A more suitable formula suggested for addressing existing acne marks (red/dark spots) and pitted scars is:

  • Azelaic Acid 10%
  • Centella Asiatica Extract (Asiaticoside) 5%
  • Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) 3%
  • Aloe Vera Gel base
  • Pro Polymer (0.5%-1.0%) - to adjust thickness

Mixing Instructions

  1. Add Azelaic Acid, Centella Asiatica Extract, and Copper Peptide to the Aloe Vera Gel base.
  2. Mix thoroughly. The gel consistency will likely become thinner due to the Azelaic Acid.
  3. Gradually add Pro Polymer (0.5%-1.0%) while stirring or blending until the desired gel thickness is achieved. Avoid adding too much Pro Polymer, as it can make the gel too hard.

Usage

  • This formula should be used only at night.
  • Azelaic Acid is an exfoliant and can increase sun sensitivity. It is crucial to use adequate sun protection during the day, even when using this formula only at night.

Additional Notes

  • A commercial Aloe Vera gel can be used as a base, but be aware that adding ingredients with electrolytes can cause this type of gel to thin out.
  • Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) solution is typically a very light blue color. If your product is completely clear, it might be worth confirming with your supplier.
