Question

I would like feedback on the following gel serum formula and guidance on the mixing procedure, including whether SiliSolve is necessary and how to adjust the texture. I am also considering adding antioxidants.

Water Phase:

  • Repair Activator: 10%
  • Copper Peptide: 3%
  • Pep®-Coll (Syn-Coll): 3%
  • Argireline: 5%
  • Adenosine: 3%
  • Vitamin B3: 2%
  • N-Acetyl-D glucosamine: 4%
  • Pro Polymer: 1%
  • Water: Remaining

Oil Phase:

  • MSH White: 1%
  • Ethoxydiglycol: 5%

Is SiliSolve needed? What is the correct mixing method? How can I make the texture more creamy white? Can I add antioxidants?

Answer

Regarding the gel serum formula you inquired about, the staff has provided feedback which can be summarized as follows:

  1. Formula Assessment: Your proposed formula is very good and already contains concentrated ingredients.
  2. SiliSolve Plus: SiliSolve Plus is not necessary for this formula as it is not primarily a silicone serum.
  3. Recommended Mixing Method:
    • Water Phase: Mix all water-soluble ingredients, including Pro Polymer (1%), until a gel texture is formed.
    • Oil Phase: Mix MSH White (1%) with Ethoxydiglycol (5%) until MSH White is completely dissolved (slight heat may be needed).
    • Gradually add the mixed oil phase into the gel phase and stir until well combined. This will result in an opaque white serum.
  4. Texture Adjustment: If a creamier texture is desired, a small amount (2-3%) of oil or Emollient like LipidSoft Lite can be added. However, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, adding oil might not be recommended.
  5. Anti-oxidant: The current formula is already effective and quite comprehensive. If after using it for a while you feel you need more results, you can consider adding anti-oxidant ingredients later.

Overall, this formula is considered good and should provide satisfactory results.
