How to Make a Lightweight, Fast-Absorbing SPF 50 Sunscreen Gel

To create a lightweight, non-greasy, and fast-absorbing sunscreen gel with SPF 50, you can use the following key ingredients:

• Sunscreen Agent: Use approximately 15% of SPF Protect Ultra™ II to achieve SPF 50. This is an oil-soluble sunscreen.
• Gel Maker: Use Pro Polymer™ (Gel Maker) to create the gel texture and help emulsify the water and oil phases.
• Texture Enhancers (Anti-greasy, Smooth Feel):
  • MatteSilica 5XL™ helps absorb oil, making the gel feel drier and less greasy.
  • Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear, Super Silky) provides a smooth, easy-to-spread texture and a silky, non-sticky feel on the skin.
• Water: The main component of the gel base.
• Fragrance (Optional): A small amount of fragrance can be added, as Pro Polymer™ can help emulsify oils.

Preliminary Steps

1. Prepare the water phase by combining water with Pro Polymer™ (Gel Maker). Slowly sprinkle the Pro Polymer™ powder onto the water and stir gently to disperse. Allow it to hydrate fully until the desired gel texture is achieved (this may take some time).
2. Prepare the oil phase by mixing SPF Protect Ultra™ II with Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear, Super Silky). Heating to around 70-80°C may be necessary to help the SPF Protect Ultra™ II dissolve well in the oil phase.
3. Prepare the powder phase by having MatteSilica 5XL™ ready.

Mixing Procedure

1. Slowly pour the oil phase (containing SPF Protect Ultra™ II and Silicone Gel) into the water phase (containing Pro Polymer™) while continuously stirring or blending to emulsify and combine.
2. Continue blending or stirring until a smooth, uniform gel-cream texture is obtained.
3. Add the MatteSilica 5XL™ to the gel and blend or stir until evenly dispersed.
4. (Optional) Add the fragrance in the final step and mix well.
5. A suitable preservative for water-based formulas should be added (not listed in the ingredients above but necessary for product shelf-life).

The amounts of MatteSilica 5XL™ and Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear, Super Silky) can be adjusted based on your preference to achieve the desired lightweight and non-greasy feel.
