Formulating a Skin Gel for Anti-Aging, Brightening, and Scar Reduction using Hyaluronic Acid Base

Recommended Ingredients for a Skin Gel to Reduce Wrinkles, Brighten Skin, and Minimize Acne Scars

For the skin gel you wish to create with properties to reduce wrinkles, crow's feet, brighten skin, and minimize acne scars, building upon your existing Hyaluronic Acid base, you can add other ingredients to enhance its effectiveness.

You can use Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base as the foundation for your gel. This gel base already contains 4 molecules of Hyaluronic Acid and is excellent for providing moisture. You can then add other desired ingredients to this base.

Recommended Ingredients and Approximate Usage Rates

• Hyaluronic Acid (Standard Molecule) and Hyaluronic Acid (Nano Molecule, 800daltons): You are already using these, which is great. Hyaluronic Acid helps hydrate the skin, making it look plump, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and strengthening the skin barrier. The Nano Molecule type penetrates deeper than the Standard Molecule type. Using them together provides hydration to both the deeper and outer layers of the skin. The total usage rate (Standard + Nano) is approximately 0.05-0.5% depending on skin type (very dry skin 0.3-0.5%, dry skin 0.1-0.3%, normal/dehydrated skin 0.05-0.1%). If you are using the Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base as your primary base, you may not need to add additional Hyaluronic Acid powder.

• Safe-B3™ (Vitamin B3, Niacinamide): Helps reduce wrinkles, diminish red/dark spots (hyperpigmentation), adds moisture by stimulating collagen and ceramide production, strengthens the skin, reduces facial oiliness, and can help with dark circles under the eyes. The recommended usage rate is 1-10% (5% recommended). The Safe-B3™ type has ultra-high purity and can be used up to 10% with less risk of flushing or irritation compared to standard types.

• Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu, Copper Tripeptide-1) (1000ppm Solution): Highly effective in helping to reduce acne scars, other scars, and facial wrinkles. It stimulates the creation of new skin cells. The recommended usage rate is 1-3%. It should be mixed in the final step, when the cosmetic temperature is below 40°C, and the pH should be in the range of 4.5-7.4. A crucial caution is do not include Disodium EDTA in the formula as it will bind the copper ions and reduce the effectiveness of Copper Peptide.

• Pep®-Coll (Palmitoyl tripeptide-5): A peptide designed to stimulate the skin to produce collagen, effectively reducing wrinkles. The recommended usage rate is 1-5% (3% recommended). It should be mixed in the final step, when the cosmetic temperature is below 40°C.

• Panthenol (Vitamin B5, DL-Panthenol, Powder): Also known as Pro-Vitamin B5, it helps hydrate the skin, reduces inflammation, redness, itching, aids in wound healing, and accelerates skin layer regeneration. It is suitable for acne-prone skin as it helps wounds heal faster without scarring and reduces redness from acne. The usage rate for skin is 0.5-10% (1-3% recommended).

• Ascorbyl Glucoside (AA-2G Stabilized Vitamin C): A stable, water-soluble form of Vitamin C that helps brighten the skin, acts as an antioxidant, and stimulates collagen synthesis. The usage rate is 2-10%. Mixing requires adjusting the formula's pH to the range of 6.5-6.8 for optimal stability. An important caution is that Ascorbyl Glucoside should NOT be used in the same formula with Safe-B3™ (Niacinamide) as it will affect the stability of Ascorbyl Glucoside. If you wish to use both, you should create separate products.

• Pep®-Acne (Oligopeptide-10 Anti-microbial Peptide): A peptide that helps inhibit P.acnes bacteria, one of the causes of acne. While not a primary ingredient for reducing existing scars, controlling new acne can help prevent new scar formation. The usage rate is 5%. It is soluble in water; avoid heat.

Mixing Ingredients with the Gel Base

Generally, mixing these ingredients into the Hyaluronic Acid Gel Base is straightforward. You can gradually add each ingredient to the gel base and mix well. Water-soluble and heat-resistant ingredients can be added earlier (if the base requires heating), but heat-sensitive ingredients like Copper Peptide, Pep®-Coll, Panthenol, Ascorbyl Glucoside, and Pep®-Acne should be added in the final step after the gel base has cooled down (below 40°C).
