Question

I want to use Glycolic Acid (AHA) 100% Powder to treat dark spots on my back and mix it myself at home.

  1. Is it possible to mix Glycolic Acid powder at home?
  2. The staff suggested an AHA Gel formulation using:
    • Glycolic Acid (AHA) 100% Powder 7%
    • AnyGel 1.5%
    • Butter Cream Maker 2% (as a water-silicone emulsifier)
    • Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear) 5%
    • Water (remaining part)

Is this formulation suitable and how should I mix it?
  3. Can I mix AHA powder with green clay to make a mask for treating dark spots?

Answer

Hello,

Regarding your question about using Glycolic Acid (AHA) 100% Powder for dark spots on your back and mixing it at home:

Yes, it is possible to mix Glycolic Acid powder at home. The staff's suggestion of creating an AHA Gel formulation using Glycolic Acid, AnyGel, and water is a suitable and recommended method for this purpose. This gel form is generally easier to apply and control compared to a simple water mixture.

Regarding mixing AHA with green clay for a mask: Combining active ingredients like AHA with other components such as clay requires careful consideration of ingredient compatibility, pH levels, and overall safety for skin application. Directly mixing AHA powder with clay for a mask can be complex, and I cannot provide a specific safe and effective formulation for an AHA + green clay mask.

Based on your goal of treating dark spots on your back, the staff's recommended AHA Gel formulation is a standard and effective approach. I recommend following their suggested formula and usage instructions carefully, particularly starting with a short contact time and gradually increasing it as your skin adjusts, and always performing a patch test before applying to a larger area.

Please follow the mixing instructions provided by the staff for the AHA Gel.
