Formulation and Texture Issues in Anti-Wrinkle Cream and Sunscreen
Question
I have two cosmetic formulas and need advice on formulation, compatibility, and texture.
Anti-Wrinkle Cream Formula:
- Water (remaining part) 53%
- lift now 2%
- Vitamin B5 2%
- Safe-B3 8%
- Gluco Bright 3%
- Mild Preserved Eco 1%
- Fragrance 1%
- water lock 1%
- DMAE 8%
- Slim Coffee 3%
- Soft Cream Maker 4%
- Wheat Germ Oil (Refined) 5%
- Olive Oil (Extra Virgin) 6%
- Cyclomethicone / Cyclopentasiloxane (Low-Odor) 3%
Light Coverage Sunscreen Formula:
- Titanium dioxide 25nm liquid 25%
- Zinc Oxide 25nm liquid 3%
- Cyclomethicone 3%
- Silk Mica Powder + Color Adjuster 1%
- Water in Oil EZ 2%
- Mild proserved eco 1%
- Water (remaining part) 65%
Regarding the Light Coverage Sunscreen Formula:
- If I want the cream texture to be easy to spread and smooth, what should I add? Can I use LipidSoft CC to adjust the cream texture to be smooth, easy to spread, and non-sticky?
- I currently have Glycerin and Dimethicone Light/50, low/oder. Can these be used to make it smoother? Will they increase oiliness on the face?
Answer
Regarding your anti-wrinkle cream formula:
The staff has provided feedback on the compatibility of your anti-wrinkle cream formula.
- Soft Cream Maker should be used at 1.5-2.0%.
- DMAE and Slim-Coffee should be removed from the formula as they are electrolytes and are not compatible with Soft Cream Maker.
- Other ingredients in the formula are compatible.
Regarding your light coverage sunscreen formula and questions about texture:
Your sunscreen formula can be mixed.
To make the cream smoother and easier to spread: You can add emollients to improve the texture. Yes, you can use LipidSoft CC (3-5%) for this purpose. Alternatively, you could increase the percentage of Cyclomethicone in the formula to 5-10%. Please note that the total oil phase (including sunscreens) should not exceed 35% of the formula to prevent separation.
Using Glycerin and Dimethicone for smoothness: Glycerin and Dimethicone can help improve the slip of the cream. However, they may increase the feeling of oiliness on the skin, particularly Glycerin. If you are concerned about increased oiliness, Cyclomethicone is a more suitable choice as it evaporates from the skin, resulting in a less greasy feel.
