Question

How can I formulate a cream with a flexible, slightly silky texture using the following ingredients and percentages?

  • Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear) 20%
  • Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse 5%
  • Satin Cream Maker 2%
  • Preservative
  • Water (remaining portion)

What are the steps for mixing these ingredients to achieve the desired texture?

Answer

Here are the instructions for making the product based on the formula you provided:

Formula:

  • Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear) 20%
  • Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse 5%
  • Satin Cream Maker 2%
  • Preservative
  • Water (remaining portion)

Instructions:

  1. Mix Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear) 20% with Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse 5%. Blend or stir until homogeneous to get a white, flexible gel texture.
  2. Mix Satin Cream Maker 2% + Water + Preservative. Blend or stir until a smooth, cloudy gel texture is obtained.
  3. Gradually add the first mixture (from step 1) into the second mixture (from step 2) little by little, stirring constantly, until a cream texture is achieved.

Note: If the texture is not flexible enough, you can increase the proportion of Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear). If separation occurs, you may consider adding Milk Lotion Maker (1-2%) to help emulsify, but this requires heat during mixing.
