Question
I have some questions about using Fractionated Coconut Oil:
1. Does Fractionated Coconut Oil inherently have sun protection properties?
2. If I want to use pure natural oil but it doesn't protect from the sun, which SPF ingredient is suitable to add while keeping the texture lightweight? How do I mix it?
3. If I want to add essential oils, can I just drop them in? Do I need to warm the oil? I like the scent of coconut oil, so if adding essential oils isn't suitable, that's fine.
Answer
Regarding your questions about Fractionated Coconut Oil:
- Sun Protection: Natural oils, including Fractionated Coconut Oil, offer very low sun protection, which is not sufficient for daily use.
- Mixing with SPF: If you want to add sun protection while keeping the product in oil form, you can use oil-soluble organic (chemical) sunscreens. These can be mixed directly into the oil. Using them in appropriate amounts should not make the product significantly greasy.
- Adding Essential Oils: You can add essential oils directly to Fractionated Coconut Oil without heating. Heating is not recommended as it can cause the natural oil and essential oils to degrade faster.
