Question

I have formulated a gel for very oily facial skin, but after application, it feels very oily and does not absorb into the skin. The formula is as follows:

  • Pure Aloe Vera Gel (Base)
  • Active Resveratrol(TM) 5%
  • Alpha-Arbutin 2%
  • Double Hyaluronic Acid 5%
  • WaterLock(TM) 2%
  • Nano Silver Pure(TM) 1%
  • AcneBee(TM) Extra 2%
  • Repair Activator(TM) 10%

Answer

Hello,

Thank you for providing more details about your skin type and concerns.

Regarding the formula you listed:

  • Pure Aloe Vera Gel (Base)
  • Active Resveratrol (TM) 5%
  • Alpha-Arbutin 2%
  • Double Hyaluronic Acid 5%
  • WaterLock (TM) 2%
  • Nano Silver Pure(TM) 1%
  • AcneBee(TM) Extra 2%
  • Repair Activator (TM) 10%

Potential for Irritation:
Several ingredients in this formula are potent active ingredients, such as Active Resveratrol, Alpha-Arbutin, Nano Silver Pure, and AcneBee Extra. These active ingredients have the potential to cause irritation, depending on individual skin condition and sensitivity. Specifically, Alpha-Arbutin, as the staff mentioned earlier, can potentially cause irritation. Using multiple active ingredients together at relatively high concentrations (totaling around 27%) can also increase the likelihood of irritation.

Issue with Oiliness and Poor Absorption:
The reason the formula feels very oily and doesn't absorb well on your very oily skin is likely due to the inclusion of several moisturizing and film-forming ingredients at relatively high concentrations, such as Double Hyaluronic Acid 5%, WaterLock 2%, and Repair Activator 10%. Although the base is Pure Aloe Vera Gel, which is typically light, combining it with these ingredients in significant amounts can make the overall texture too heavy for very oily skin. This results in the product feeling like it sits on top of the skin, doesn't absorb well, and feels sticky or oily.

Recommendations for Your Skin (Very Oily, Wrinkles, Inflammatory Acne, Acne Scars):
The ingredients you've included do target your stated skin concerns, such as wrinkles (Resveratrol, Repair Activator), acne (Nano Silver, AcneBee), and acne scars/brightening (Alpha-Arbutin). However, the texture of this specific combination may not be suitable for your very oily skin type.

We recommend considering adjusting the formula to have a lighter texture, which will help with better absorption and reduce the oily feeling. This might involve reducing the concentration of some ingredients that contribute to the heavy texture or adjusting the types of moisturizing agents used to be more suitable for oily skin.

If you would like, we are happy to provide guidance on adjusting the formula to achieve a texture that is better suited for your oily skin while still addressing your skin concerns.

Thank you,
