Question

I would like to know how to formulate reed diffuser oil for air diffusion. Also, does this type of product require FDA registration in Thailand?

Answer

How to Mix Diffuser Oil

To make diffuser oil for air diffusion, you primarily need two components:

  1. Diffuser Base: This is a liquid that helps dissolve the fragrance and allows it to travel up the reeds and diffuse into the air.
  2. Fragrance Oil: This is the scent you want to use.

You can use a product like Reed Diffuser Base (Type 1) as your base.

Mixing Ratio:

A common ratio is approximately 70-75% Diffuser Base and 25-30% Fragrance Oil.

Mixing Instructions:

Simply mix the fragrance oil into the diffuser base. If you find that the fragrance oil separates from the base, you can try mixing the fragrance oil with a small amount of Ethyl Alcohol first before adding it to the diffuser base.

Product Registration (FDA Notification):

As the staff mentioned, products intended for diffusing scent into the air (like reed diffusers) do not require FDA registration (เลขที่จดแจ้ง) in Thailand because they are not applied to the skin or consumed. Therefore, you do not need to provide scientific names (like INCI names used for cosmetics) for registration purposes.
